History
10-12 Aug 1921, Vienna (Austria), at international Congress of Non-Manual Workers, when listed title adopted, an International Information Office having been set up in 1904, Amsterdam (Netherlands), which, in 1910, was extended into International Commercial Employees' Secretariate -- Secretariat international des employés de commerce. Also referred to unofficially as International Federation of White Collar Workers'Unions. Ceased to exist 1 Jan 2000 when merging with H-XB3136 - Communications International (CI), H-XC2084 - International Graphical Federation (IGF) and H-XB0058 - Media and Entertainment International (MEI) to form B-XB0009 - UNI Global Union.
Aims
Cooperate in the establishment of a social order based on the unity of all peoples in freedom, equality and common utilization of the world's resources; promote international solidarity by bringing together the free trade unions of commercial, clerical professional and technical employees in all countries and branches of commerce and industry, regardless of nationality, race or creed; combat economic and social exploitation at every level; reject racial discrimination of every kind; defend and further the economic, social and cultural interests of employees on international level and represent them on all international bodies and organizations concerned with their interests; support trade union actions as far as such support may be deemed justified by the special circumstances of the organization concerned.

World Congress (meeting every 4 years) elects World Executive Committee, President, Vice-Presidents and General Secretary. Management Committee is composed of President, 1st and 2nd Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and General Secretary. The head office is based in Geneva (Switzerland). Office are also located in: Brussels (Belgium), Harare (Zimbabwe), Ouagadougou, Moscow (Russia), San José (Costa Rica), Sarajevo, Singapore (Singapore). Areas (12): United Kingdom and Ireland; Scandinavia; Germany, Austria and Switzerland; Belgium, France, Luxembourg (Luxembourg), Netherlands; Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Turkey; Central and Eastern Europe; Africa; Near and Middle East; Asia; Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific; United States and Canada; Latin America and the Caribbean. The major workers' groups are organized in 7 Trade Sections: Bank, Insurance and Financial Services; Commerce; Industry, Information Technology, Business Services; Property Maintenance and Security Services; Social Insurance and Private Healthcare; Tourism; Hair and Beauty Care. Inter-Professional Groups: Professional and Managerial Staff; Women; Youth.
