History
May 1989, Madrid (Spain), as Conférence des organes spécialisés en affaires européennes des pays membres de l'Union et du Parlement européen -- Conference of Community and European Affairs Committees of Parliaments of the European Union. Formally recognized in a protocol to T-XT9706 - Treaty of Amsterdam, that was concluded by Heads of Government, Jun 1997. Protocol on the Role of National Parliaments in the European Union came into force 1 May 1999. Superseding treaty - T-XT2073 - Treaty of Lisbon - came into force 1 Dec 2009.
Aims
Allow representatives of parliaments of member states of the European Union, together with those of the European Parliament, to exchange information on progress in European Union affairs.

Meets twice a year in the country having at that time the Presidency of the Union. Each Parliament is represented by 6 members. Secretariat, composed of officials from the Parliaments of the Presidential Troika, and a Permanent Member.
