The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).
History
as a commission of B-XB2079 - International Geographical Union (IGU). (From 1992-1996: Commission 92-C20; since 1996: Commission 96-C17). Ceased to exist.
Aims
Promote research into the reduction of natural hazards effects, with emphasis on floods, drought, erosion and landslides; encourage investigation into the use of geographic methods in hazards reduction and mitigation, especially in lesser developed regions; promote development of appropriate geographic technology to support the International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction.
