History

6 May 1959, Rome (Italy), taking its name from the initials of the title Residenze Universitarie Internazionali of the halls of residence set up by the foundation. Registered in accordance with Italian law, 16 Sep 1959.

Aims

Promote and encourage training of the younger generation, of university students and intellectual workers; promote and manage initiatives leading to a wider international cultural perspective in education and better international cooperation.

Activities

Sets up international halls of residence; awards grants and scholarship places, subsidies and prizes; provides facilities for student mobility at international level; organizes vocational courses and services for secondary schools; carries out research and experiment in the field of education; holds courses, congresses and seminars for young people and teachers. Annual meeting 'UNIVITALIA' for university students. Annual summer conferences at Como (Italy) and Rome (Italy). 'Project Tre P', in conjunction with Latin American universities, provides annual study scholarships for specialists in teaching or research in Italy. 'PIU' Project' on cooperation between higher education and industry. Project on East European student mobility, with grants.
