The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

16 Jan 1979, Dakar (Senegal), at International Colloquium of Francophone Bar Associations. Currently acts as an institute of Inter-African Union of Lawyers (IAUL), which it was instrumental in setting up. No recent activity reported since 1989.

Aims

Strengthen solidarity and cooperation among African lawyers, barristers and judges; disseminate, teach and defend basic freedoms and human rights; make public aware of the meaning and scope of human rights.

Activities

Trains lawyers and others involved in teaching and defence of human rights. Carries out research on issues raised by violation of human rights. Organizes seminars and symposia. Works toward realization of the African Charter.
