1969, Frankfurt-Main (Germany FR). Previously also referred to in English as European Committee of the Manufacturers of Fire Protection and Safety Equipment and Fire Fighting Vehicles.

Aims

Establish and promote common policies on matters affecting the fire trade in Europe and lobby on behalf of the trade with authorities, public bodies and international organizations; promote and maintain high standards of design and manufacture; establish uniform nomenclature and definitions; exchange technical information; establish standards, and technical, testing and servicing requirements; promote fire protection and disaster control.

Works with other organizations to establish uniform standards and specifications. Organizes and participates in congresses and exhibitions. Work centres on 4 autonomous sections, set up Oct 1992, each with its own membership and activities: Mobile Equipment; Fixed Extinguishing Installations (FEI); Portable Fire Extinguishers; Sprinklers.
