The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Aims

Provide an international professional forum for the exchange of administrative and technical information relating to civil registration of births and deaths and other vital events; promote the world-wide production of more accurate and complete national official vital statistics; promote the establishment and/or improvement of the civil registration systems in developing countries so that the individual registration documents can better serve as a basis for implementing human rights, and other juridical and administrative uses.

Activities

Encourages greater national efforts for improvement of and stresses the utility of civil registration records and the demographic data derived from such records. The program of the Institute is designed to be complementary to the activities of other multilateral and bilateral programs in the field and is directed primarily at the exchange of organizational and technical information among members. IIVRS proposes to concentrate its efforts to the developing world, but it also encourages cooperation between officials in the developing countries and their counterparts in countries considered to have efficient systems.
