Events/meetings; training/education. Works to resolve problems related to protection of Alpine regions and hotspots of biodiversity, in particular related to the Convention for the Protection of the Alps (Alpine convention), currently ratified by all the 9 signatory nations, including the European Union. The convention seeks to address problems arising from pressure of year-round tourism, rapid increase in trans-alpine road transport, decline of mountain farming, rural exodus and disappearing forests.
