History

1 Jul 1993, on merger of U-XM1031 - INTERFRIGO - International Railway-owned Company for Refrigerated Transport, set up 24 Oct 1949, Brussels (Belgium), with U-XM1016 - International Company for the Transport by Transcontainers (INTERCONTAINER), formed 5 Dec 1965, Basel (Switzerland), by International Union of Railways, and originally referred to as Intercontainer - International Transcontainer Transport Company -- Organisation internationale des chemins de fer pour les transcontainers (Transconfer) or as IC. Intercontainer-Interfrigo is also known by initials ICF. Ceased to exist as a cooperative on 31 Oct 2002, Brussels, when statutes were modified so as to become a profit-making limited company (société anonyme).

Aims

Develop and operate inter-modal - road/ rail - transport and rail carriage of perishable commodities.
