The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1 Mar 1957, by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), as part of United Nations Peace-keeping Operations (DOMP), within the framework of United Nations (UN), on coming into force of the General Assembly resolution 1001 (ES-1), Nov 1956, and following consultations with the Consultative Committee set up by that resolution. Created during the time of the Suez crisis - and known as the First United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF I) - ceased to exist June 1967. The Second United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF II), set up by the Security Council, 25 Oct 1973, in Sinai, cooperated with United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO). Was also referred to in French as Forces spéciales d'urgence des Nations unies. Mandate expired 24 July 1979.
