The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).
Founded
1922
History
1922, as Scandinavian Supervisors' Union -- Skandinaviska Arbetsledarunionen, including unions in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Expanded 1947, to include Finnish and Icelandic foremen and technicians unions and with the new title Nordic Union of Foremen and Supervisors -- Nordiska Arbetsledarunionen. Current title adopted 1981. Swedish Union of Local Government Officers became 6th member in 1987. No recent activity reported since 1990.
Aims
Safeguard industrial, economic, social and professional interests of supervisors, technical officers and other senior personnel in relation to interstate organizations at the Nordic and international level and to the associations of Nordic employers; monitor common issues of importance to supervisors and technical officers - pay determination, the managerial role, work environment, work organization, technological development; reinforce occupational role of supervisors and technicians; promote industrial development and welfare.
