The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

1972

History

1972, following discussions among representatives of a number of international organizations at Seminar on Storage of Grains in the Humid Tropics, Jul 1971, Ibadan (Nigeria). Replaced by U-XF7092 - Global Post-Harvest Forum (PhAction), 1999.

Aims

Stimulate technical cooperation between industrialized and developing countries in post-harvest handling, processing, storage and transport of grain, emphasizing an integrated systems approach, thus assisting developing countries in making the best use of their resources in this sector and harmonizing members' activities; identify and suggest ways of meeting needs for research, development, training and information in this field; provide a global forum for exchange of technical information and experience facilitate appropriate dissemination of information on technical developments and activities in the sector.

Structure

Informal association of organizations in research and/or development activities, representatives meet annually. Limited membership. Food Security, NRI (UK), the French Phytosanitary Mission and GTZ provide secretariat and manage business between meetings.
