10-18 May 1997, Marrakech (Morocco), at conference on 'Knowledge and Skills for Development in the Information Age' convened by E-XE7670 - World Bank Institute (WBI) and the Government of Morocco, with the assistance of H-XE2842 - Executive Secretariat of the Middle East and North Africa Economic Summit.
Aims
Collect and provide information to alleviate poverty and achieve sustainable development in the Mediterranean region; foster training related to these development issues, encourage the emergence of partnerships to create and codify knowledge capital, and explore ways to adapt to new communications technology; help develop, codify and distribute knowledge on 'best practice' approaches to development; promote dialogue among senior government officials, the development community and the private sector; explore the role of learning and knowledge in building effective management, good governance and sustainable economic growth; investigate the impact of knowledge and information technology on economic growth.
