History

11 Apr 1999, Brussels (Belgium), by the General Assembly of the 7 founder organizations. Registered in accordance with Belgian law, 2 Mar 2000. Also known as BIF European Confederation.

Aims

Raise awareness of brain injury by creating a common European platform through coordination and cooperation between national associations of people with brain injury and their families.

cover the following goals: brain injury to be recognized as a separate disability; establishment of a good model for rehabilitation; guidelines for good practice; all European countries working together; personal injury insurance for everyone; delivery of prevention message; lobbying national and European parliaments and governments; recognition of long-term consequences of brain injury, including physical and sensory impairment, cognitive difficulties, behavioural and emotional problems and social exclusion. Organizes biennial TBI-Challenge Conference.
