The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

11 June 1950, Paris (France), as an extension of the 'National Council of Christians and Jews' which was founded in the USA in 1928. Subsequently took over part of the activities carried on by Council on World Tensions, superseded, 1963, by Rensselaerville Institute (TRI).

Aims

Contribute to the study of intergroup relations and to the promotion of education for international understanding.

Activities

International educational programme for intergroup and international understanding, chiefly in cooperation with existing agencies and institutions which contribute to the formation of attitudes and opinions. The European Division is carrying on this aspect of the work while the North American unit and South East Asian division are developing an international programme of intensive studies, seminars and high-level non-governmental cooperation with universities on the problems of tensions among nations at different stages of economic and social development. Conferences and seminars; youth meetings and teacher training programmes.
