History
Founded by Clarence Streit (1896-1986). Largely succeeded by G-AA2956 - Streit Council for a Union of Democracies (Streit Council).
Aims
Illuminate the benefits offered by a future federation of democracies; educate individuals and governments in the principles, processes and structures of democratic institutions; propagate the concept of federation among all the democratic nations of the world; create venues for dialogue and discussion that will strengthen democratic institutions; conduct research that will identify and disseminate effective models of democratic development; stimulate exchange of ideas whereby individuals and nations may explore various democratic structures; support legislative and other initiatives that promote integration of democratic nations, greater Euro-Atlantic cooperation and development of regional democratic organizations.
