The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1947, Washington DC (USA), as United World Federalists (UWF) upon the merger of five groups: Americans United for World Government; World Federalists, USA; Student Federalists; Georgia World Citizens Committee; and the Massachusetts Committee for World Federation. Later known as World Federalists USA and World Federalists Association. Merged into Citizens for Global Solutions.

Aims

Work for the legal and political authorization of world institutions to deal with global problems while affirming the sovereignty of the nation-state in internal matters.

Activities

Lobbying and preparatory work for: establishment of International Criminal Court (ICC), to deal in particular with terrorists and drug traffickers; empowerment of the United Nations to monitor and verify arms control treaties. Aims for an 'Our Planet' poster in every classroom. Sponsors youth conferences, workshops and exchange visits.
