Improve the provision of information to health and medical workers in Africa; encourage professional development of members; promote resource-sharing and exchange of experience and information among African health and biomedical libraries and documentation centres; promote the development and standardization of national databases of medical and health literature produced in African countries and eventually an African Index Medicus.
