The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1963, London (UK), by Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA). From Oct 1992, Secretariat based in The Hague (Netherlands). Ceased to exist, Oct 2001.

Aims

Assist teachers of current international affairs in the secondary schools of Western and Eastern Europe, North America and CIS-Countries by providing a clearing house for information on teaching methods, on materials available throughout Europe and Northern America and international problems.

Activities

Current concerns include educational activities in Eastern and Central Europe. Organizes: annual spring conference or seminar; international summer schools and seminars for teachers; biennial study conferences. Each national association has its own education committee and educational activities including: national or international conferences; seminars; workshops; educational material published either in their national language or in English.
