History
Oct 1977, Buenos Aires (Argentina), when an Organizing Committee was set up; Academic Council constituted Mar 1978, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
Aims
Strengthen and modernize the analysis of international relations of the Latin American countries; contribute to the identification of Latin America's specific interests regarding the most relevant international issues and forums; promote the interdisciplinary study of economic, political, cultural and international factors involved in the handling of the foreign relations of latin American countries; promote the participation of the academic sector in the preparation of background material and data that could be of use in the formulation of the foreign strategy of the countries of the region; support the consolidation of a regional network of research and teaching centres with a sound capacity for the analysis of the foreign relations of Latin American countries; promote the establishment of academic ties among these institutions and research centres of other regions of the world interested in the study of international relations.
