History
8 Dec 1954, Santiago (Chile), as Latin American Federation of Christian Trade Unions -- Confederación Latinoamericana Sindical Cristiana (CLASC). Present name adopted 1971. Regional organization of H-XA3490 - World Confederation of Labour (WCL). Following merger of H-XA1667 - International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and WCL, Nov 2006, into A-XM2085 - International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), ceased to exist. E-XE1096 - Confederación Sindical de Trabajadores y Trabajadoras de las Américas (CSA) became regional body representing Americas.
Aims
Defend human rights in Latin America; represent interests of Latin American workers.
