As a nongovernmental marine conservation organization, help conserve marine biodiversity and eliminate human-induced stresses on the marine environment through programs and initiatives that promote sustainable use of living marine resources, conserve biodiversity and protect marine habitat for the benefit of local people; advocate judicious utilization of marine resources and conservation of coral reefs in underdeveloped countries; combat destructive fishing practices; advocate defence of the environment and nurture environmental activism; popularize alternative livelihoods for surplus fisherfolk; promote "clean" harvesting technology.
