The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

5 Apr 1927, Fribourg (Switzerland), when eleven organizations met at the invitation of H-XH0226 - Catholic Union of International Studies, as Conference of Presidents -- Conférence des présidents. Subsequently known as Conference of Presidents of International Catholic Organizations -- Conférence des présidents des organisations internationales catholiques. After the hiatus caused by World War II, the Conference resumed its activities and was made into a formal institution when new statutes, approved by the Holy See, were adopted by General Assembly, 1951, Luxembourg. Present name adopted 1953. Also referred to as Conference of ICO -- Conférence des OIC. Dissolved, 19 Jun 2008, Paris (France). Registered in accordance with Swiss law.


Under the inspiration of Christian principles, participate in the life of the universal Church and collaborate constructively in the development of international life; lobby for Christian values worldwide.
