The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1 Sep 2001, in the framework of Joint Research Centre (JRC), under the umbrella of European Commission (EC). Comprises the previous Institute for Systems, Informatics and Safety (Ispra ISIS) and part of Space Applications Institute (Ispra SAI). Also referred to as Ispra IPSC. Ceased to exist, July 2016, when merged into structure of JRC.

Aims

Provide research-based, systems-oriented support to EU policies so as to protect the citizen against economic and technological risk; maintain and develop its expertise in information, communication, space and engineering technologies in support of its mission.

Addresses research themes in support to EU policies. Provides scientific and technical support to EU external relations and security related policies. Works in support of risk prevention and management. Applies expertise in space and IT technologies. Performs quantitative econometric analysis in support to competitiveness and growth.
