The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


Apr 1993, within the framework of International Hydrological Programme (IHP). Restructured, 24-28 Oct 1994, Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), following closing down of Inter-African Committee for Hydraulic Studies (ICHS), which previously served as coordinating centre. Also referred to as AOC. One of several Flow Regimes from International Experimental and Network Data (FRIEND). Full title FRIEND - Flow Regimes from International Experimental and Network Data/West and Central Africa (FRIEND/AOC).


As a regional network, collect, assemble and exchange hydrological data deriving from countries of west and central Africa; improve understanding of the regional hydrological system through a number of models.

Holds seminars. Research themes: setting up regional data bank; study of low flows for management of small impoundments; hydrological regionalization for ungauged basins; impact of climatic and anthropogenic variability on hydrological regimes.
