The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

20 Nov 1976, Port of Spain, by H-XD8768 - Caribbean Publishing and Broadcasting Association (CPBA). Constitution adopted 23 May 1980; amended: 9 Sep 1981; 11 Dec 1982. Ceased activity.

Aims

Maintain the characters and purpose of the media in the Caribbean in accordance with high professional standards; investigate and deal with complaints concerning the media or the conduct of others towards the media, and violations of freedom of the press; initiate steps to protect the role, character, freedom and conduct of the press; review developments likely to restrict the supply and flow of information of public interest and importance.

Structure

General Assembly (annual) elects Chairman, who is not otherwise connected with the media, for 5-year term, Vice-Chairman for 3-year term and appoints Executive Secretary. Chairman appoints 4 members employed in the media and 8 members not otherwise actively connected the media. CPBA appoints 4 representatives. National Committees.
