Dec 1978, as a research programme of the E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC). Comes within Directorate-General XII: Science, Research and Development. For the period 27 Jun 1989 to 27 Jun 1993, an integrated part of U-XK0145 - Strategic Analysis Forecasting and Assessment Evaluation (MONITOR Programme), together with U-XK0181 - Strategic Analysis in Science and Technology (SAST Programme) and U-XK0255 - Support Programme for Evaluation Activities in Research (SPEAR Programme). Since that date referred to as Prospective FAST. Ceased to exist.
Research: analyse the multiple aspects of scientific and technological change - economic, social and political. Organizational: strengthen the flow of European thinking for forecasting and assessment by promoting the setting up of ad hoc systems of cooperation between researchers, officials, manufacturers and the social groups concerned at the European level.
