1 Jun 1992, as Network on Sustainable Food Security in Central West Africa -- Réseau de sécurité alimentaire durable en Afrique de l'Ouest centrale, on the initiative of the Netherlands Ministry of Development Cooperation (DGIS) and Dutch universities. Previously also referred to in French as Réseau de recherche SADAOC and Réseau SADAOC. Added, 18 Jun 1996, a foundation, Fondation SADAOC, registered in Maastricht (Netherlands), to channel funds for its activities.
Develop a new structural approach to improving food security in West Africa by strengthening local research capacity and stimulating high quality research that supports policy design; develop methods for effective and structured consultation between researchers and policy makers; enhance regional cooperation and coordination for food security policies.
