The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1 July 1968, Kungälv (Sweden). Statutes adopted in 1970. New statutes adopted, 9 Nov 1977, when came under the aegis of Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM), within the framework of Nordic Cultural Cooperation. Present statutes adopted in 1997. Closed down Aug 2004.

Aims

Support and develop cooperation and dissemination of research in the field of adult education in the Nordic countries and Europe.

Activities

Serves as a pedagogical development centre and meeting place for educators, administrators and researchers in adult education and socio-cultural education. Organizes projects, courses, seminars and conferences, including courses for Baltic, Russian, Russian and European participants. Coordinates International projects. Maintains a Library covering adult education in the Nordic countries and also international literature on andragogy.
