Mar 1987, Harare (Zimbabwe), as Ecumenical Documentation and Information Centre for Eastern and Southern Africa (EDICESA) -- Centre oecuménique de documentation et d'information pour l'Afrique australe et du Sud -- Centro Ecumênico de Documentação e Informação para Africa Austral e Oriental. Present name adopted 1999.
Aims
Give an authentic voice to the Churches themselves, to their ecumenical partners and to the world about the Southern African region, particularly those countries in the region which still face serious problems. Through publications: facilitate research on topical issues relevant to church and society in Southern Africa; seek to be an instrument of transformation of society in line with gospel values; nurture South-South and South-North dialogue.

Acts as Secretariat of U-XF3919 - Fellowship of Councils of Churches in Southern Africa (FOCCISA), whose General Assembly (annual) comprises the Board of General Secretaries of member National Councils of Churches. Director is assisted by Management Board, comprising a theologian, a lawyer, a chartered accountant, a documentalist and a communications specialist.
