Inaugurated 28 Feb 1968, Auroville (India). Recognized by an Act of Parliament of India, viz, Auroville Foundation Act, 1988 and 4 Resolutions of UNESCO. Previously also referred to as Auroville International Township, Auroville Universal City or City of Dawn. Registered as a foundation under Indian law.
Develop Auroville as a universal township for an actual human unity, inspired by the vision of Sri Aurobindo and Mirra Alfassa (also known as the Mother) for a conscious transformation of mankind through unending education and future oriented material, spiritual, environmental and inter-cultural research.
