Founded following Constitutive Committee having been set up in 1971. Current Bylaws and Constitution approved at General Assembly, 1986, London (UK). As of Oct 2007, takes over activities of European component of DentEd, a Thematic Network funded by F-XF2147 - European Union (EU) since 1997.
Promote advancement and foster convergence towards high standards of dental education in Europe; contribute to co-ordinate peer review and quality assurance in dental educaton and training; promote the development of assessment and examination methods; encourage exchange of staff, students and programmes; provide a European link with other bodies concerned with education, particularly dental education.
