Promote optimum plastic surgical care for the people of the UEMS and UEMS associate / observer countries by means of: (a) Setting standards for training programmes in the specialty of plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery; (b) Issuing clear definitions of the minimum standards for training institutions and for those responsible for the provision of plastic surgery training (At the invitation of participating institutions, their standards will be assessed by on-site investigation); (c) Conducting a European Board Examination; (d) Instituting exchange programmes for trainees between recognized institutions; (e) Maintaining high educational standards by organizing and / or supervising professional courses. Supports the EUMS in the aims of establishing closer relationships between national professional organizations of plastic surgeons and supporting and coordinating their activities, and of ensuring that ethical standards are determined and complied with by registered plastic surgeons.
