Promote coordination of the policies of member states to the full extent needed for the functioning of the internal market; keep under review the monetary and financial situation of member states and of the European Union and the general payments system of member states; examine the situation regarding movement of capital and freedom of payments as they result from application of the Maastricht Treaty and measures adopted by the Council.
