Jun 1952, and registered by Belgian Royal Decree, 3 Nov 1953, as International Council of Scientific Unions Abstracting Board (ICSU AB) -- Bureau des résumés analytiques du Conseil international des unions scientifiques. New Statutes and By-Laws adopted together with current name at Extraordinary General Assembly, 20 Jun 1984, Philadelphia PA (USA).

Aims

Increase accessibility to, and awareness of, scientific, technical and medical information (STMI); offer a unique forum for interaction between organizations that create, disseminate and use STMI; provide leadership in promoting recognition of the value of STMI to the world's economic, research, scholarly and social progress; enhance access to and delivery of information for all constituencies in business, industry, academia, government and the public through exchange of information and sharing of experience among international peers; develop appropriate tools to better meet the information requirements among all participants in the information flow; provide a unique gathering of the diverse groups interested in and concerned with STMI, from generation through access to archiving.
