Promote European Community investment in Southern Africa; favorize cooperation between the European Community and the states of Southern Africa; contribute to peace initiatives in the region, both within and between states; support cooperation among Southern African states with mutual respect for their independence; promote establishment of democracy and respect for human rights in these countries; support economic, social, scientific and cultural development of Southern Africa in the interest of its peoples.
