Collect and disseminate knowledge about the historical origins of mass killings; develop and manage major research programmes focusing on prevention and punishment of genocide and mass atrocity crimes as well as create innovative public policies to prevent future mass atrocities; educate students, academics, journalists, government officials, members of civil society and the general public to enhance understanding of the history and sociology of genocide, the prevention of genocide and mass atrocity crimes, and domestic and international frameworks for punishing perpetrators of genocide and crimes against humanity; foster growth of a cooperative international network of institutes engaged in the study of genocide and mass atrocity crimes and their prevention.
