31 May 2001, on signature of Convention for the Use of Food Micro-Algae and Inter-University Scientific Research, registered by Secretary-General of the United Nations. The convention also set up G-XG9177 - Intergovernmental University Institute of Co-operation (IUIC).
Promote the study and production of food microalgae in favour of people in need, notably highly malnourished victims of natural and man-made disasters, famines, emergencies and famine related crises.
