23 Aug 1938, The Hague (Netherlands), as Autonomous Section of Secretaries General of Parliaments of the B-XB2832 - Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Present title adopted 12 Sep 1957, London (UK).
Aims
Facilitate personal contacts between holders of the office of Secretary General in any Parliamentary Assembly, whether such Assembly is a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union or not, for the purpose of studying the law, procedure, practice and working methods of different Parliaments and of proposing measures for improving those methods and securing cooperation between the services of different Parliaments.
