Support, promote and consolidate in practical terms the Bi-regional Strategic Partnership by covering its 3 main concerns, namely: questions relating to democracy, external policy, governance, integration, peace and human rights; economic, financial and commercial affairs; social affairs, human exchange, the environment, education and culture.

Structure

Plenary Session (annual). A joint multilateral parliamentary assembly composed of 150 members, 75 from European Parliament and 75 from the Latin American component, including F-XF2885 - Parlamento Latinoamericano (PARLATINO), F-XF9018 - Andean Parliament, F-XF0577 - Parlamento Centroamericano (PARLACEN) and, as of April 2009, F-XJ0186 - Parlamento de MERCOSUR (PARLASUR). The Mexican and Chilean congresses are also represented in view of the existence of the Joint Parliamentary Committees EU/Mexico and EU/Chile. Executive Bureau (meeting at least twice a year), comprising 2 Co-Presidents (one European and one Latin American) and 14 Co-Vice-Presidents (7 from each side). Standing Committees (4): Political Affairs, Security and Human Rights; Economic, Financial and Commercial Affairs; Social Affairs, Human Exchanges, Environment, Education and Culture; Sustainable Development, Environment, Energy Policy, Research, Innovation and Technology. Working Group. Secretariat.
