9 Nov 1967, as EEC Group of Producers of Mineral Insulating Material for Electrotechnical Use -- Groupement des producteurs d'isolateurs et de pièces isolantes minérales à usage électro-technique de la CEE. Name changed, 1985, to Association of the EEC Manufacturers of Technical Ceramics for Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical and Other Applications -- Groupement des producteurs de la CEE de céramiques techniques pour applications électroniques, électriques, mécaniques et autres -- Vereinigung der Hersteller von Technischer Keramik in der EWG für Elektronische, Elektrische, Mechanische und andere Anwendungen. Took over, 1989, the relevant activities of H-XD0618 - European Ceramic Association, on suspension of the latter's activities, together with D-XD2096 - European Ceramic Society (ECerS). Name changed, 1991 to: Association of the European Manufacturers of Technical Ceramics for Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical and Other Applications -- Groupement des producteurs européens de céramiques techniques pour applications électroniques, électriques, mécaniques et autres (GROUPISOL) -- Vereinigung der Europäischen Hersteller von Technischer Keramik für Elektronische, Elektrische, Mechanische und andere Anwendungen. New name adopted, 2000.

Represent the common interest of its members to the European Community institutions; study all problems of general interest to members in order to promote full cooperation in conformity with the Treaty of Rome (Italy); encourage the solution of problems in the common interest of the sector.
