1963, Beirut (Lebanon), as the outpost in the Middle East of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and of the Secretariats of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). It served the Governments of the countries in the region, pursuant to resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, ECOSOC, UNCTAD, UNIDO and their subsidiary bodies. The Office was integrated, 9 Aug 1973, into United Nations Economic Commission for Western Asia (ECWA) -- Commission économique des Nations Unies pour l'Asie occidentale (CEAO) -- Comisión Económica de las Naciones Unidas para el Asia Occidental (CEPAO) - currently E-XE4178 - United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) - by Resolution 1818 (LV) of ECOSOC.
