Established 1 Apr 2005, Vienna (Austria), by the Treaty establishing the Energy Community, signed Oct 2005, Athens (Greece), and entered into force Jul 2006. Parties to the Treaty are the F-XF2147 - European Union (EU) and 8 Contracting Parties from South East Europe and the Black Sea region: Albania; Bosnia-Herzegovina; Kosovo; Macedonia; Moldova; Montenegro; Serbia; Ukraine.
Extend the EU internal energy market to South East Europe and beyond on the basis of a legally binding framework; create a stable regulatory and market framework in order to attract investment in power generation and networks, create and integrated energy market, enhance security of supply, improve the environmental situation and enhance competition at regional level.
