The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History
26 Apr 1994, Lisbon (Portugal). Also referred to in Portuguese as Rede Europeia de Cidades dos Descobrimentos. Ceased to exist 2002.
Aims
Promote exchange and cooperation in cultural projects so as to: celebrate the spirit of discovery, both past and future; create, thanks to a historic and cultural approach, a new sense of invention and adventure which will enliven towns throughout Europe; ensure that towns associated with discovery in the past will again become agents of liaison with the rest of the world; become an area for combating xenophobia.
