The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1983, on merger of Graphic Arts International Union (GAIU) - set up 1972, Washington DC (USA), through merger of International Brotherhood of Bookbinders (1882) with Lithographers and Photoengravers International Union, itself set up 1964 on merger of Amalgamated Lithographers of America (1882) with International Photoengravers Union (1900) - and International Printing and Graphics Communications Union, founded 1973 by merger of International Printing Pressmen and Assistants' Union of North America (1889) and International Stereotypers and Electrotypers Union (1902). Primarily a USA membership organization. 2005, became Graphic Communications Conference of International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT).
