Aims

Encourage study of and interest in ancient art; encourage protection and preservation of ancient sites; in particular, address issues concerning works of ancient art from the Mediterranean civilizations and other civilizations directly in contact with them; encourage contacts among museums, archaeologists, collectors and the trade and with intergovernmental and international non-governmental organizations.

Activities

Subscribes to the view put forward in the preamble to Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict (The Hague Convention, 1954) that damage to cultural property belonging to any people whatsoever means damage to cultural heritage of all mankind. In this light, organizes mutual assistance between dealers in works of ancient art and official institutions by communicating to members the information needed to apply strictly to the IADAA Code of Ethics and Practice.
