History
Set up at 2nd Meeting of Ministers of Labour, as an Andean integration organ of the T-XT6969 - Andean Subregional Integration Agreement (Cartagena Agreement). Functions as a 'Social Agreement' of F-XF4919 - Sistema Andino de Integración (SAI) within the framework of F-XD0055 - Andean Community. Full name: Convenio de Integración Socio-Laboral Simón Rodriguez. Currently being revitalized after a period of dormancy.
Aims
As an intergovernmental institution set up to complement integration efforts in economic and trade sectors with action the field of social and labour policy: promote and support harmonization of social and labour policies of member countries of the Cartagena Agreement; adopt plans and strategies for joint action in achieving improvements in living conditions in the Andean subregion.
