History
Established 24-26 Jul 1974, Lima (Peru), as Association of State Telecommunication Undertakings of the Andean Subregional Agreement -- Association des entreprises gouvernementales de télécommunications de l'Accord sous-régional andin -- Asociación de Empresas Estatales de Telecomunicaciones del Acuerdo Subregional Andino, when first statutes were adopted. Registered in accordance with law of Ecuador, 11 Jun 1975. New statutes entered into force 1 Jan 1994, when title changed to Association of Telecommunication Enterprises of the Andean Subregional Agreement -- Association des entreprises de télécommunications de l'Accord sous-régional andin -- Asociación de Empresas de Telecomunicaciones del Acuerdo Subregional Andino. An Andean integration organ of T-XT6969 - Andean Subregional Integration Agreement (Cartagena Agreement), coming within the framework of F-XD0055 - Andean Community.
Aims
Contribute to the achievement of business objectives of members, and integral development of the telecommunication and ICT sectors into a converged environment; strengthen regional integration.

Board of Directors (meets annually), consisting of the General Managers or Chief Executive Officers of each member enterprise. General Secretariat, headed by Secretary-General, includes 2 Departments (each coordinating 3 Standing Committees): Studies and Projects Department - Planning and Standardization, Operations, Training; International Relations Department - Tariffs, Sales and Marketing, Regulatory Issues. Secretariat located in Quito (Ecuador).
