Apr 1978, Edmonton AB (Canada), as a result of 1st International Ombudsman Conference, 1976, Edmonton AB (Canada), which set up International Ombudsman Steering Committee. At 2nd Conference, 1980, Jerusalem (Israel), this Committee was replaced by International Ombudsman Consultative Committee which is representative of world Ombudsmen. Also referred to as Institut international du médiateur.
Promote the concept of ombudsmanship; encourage and support research on ombudsmanship, civil and human rights and privacy; secure development of educational programmes; provide a resource centre for storage and dissemination of information.
