The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

June 1988, Stockholm (Sweden), at 4th World Congress on AIDS. A European Community Concerted Action, ENTA project started 1 Jan 1989. It ended 1998.

Aims

Conduct multicentre prospective trials in the treatment of HIV infection and the related opportunistic infections and cancers; complement national clinical research organizations and allow completion of protocols that need supranational European collaboration such as in cases of relatively rare diseases or when very large numbers of patients are needed.

Activities

Role of Coordinating Centre: protocol management; administrative support to investigation; data collection, monitoring and final; intermediate analysis on safety and tolerance on ongoing clinical studies. Duties of Steering Committee: revision, approval and finalization of protocols; promoting the participation of centres with expertise in each country in the area studied; selection of leadership centres by expertise and background.
